Standardised Price List
All funeral directors are legally required to publish this Price List for a standardised set of products and services. This is to help you think through your options and make choices, and to let you compare prices between different funeral directors (because prices can vary).
Attended Funeral (funeral director’s charges only) £1,995.00
This is a funeral where family and friends have a ceremony, event or service for the deceased person at the same time as they attend their burial or cremation.
Taking care of all necessary legal and administrative arrangements. – £700.00
Collecting and transporting the deceased person from the place of death (normally within 15 miles of the funeral director’s premises) into the funeral director’s care. – £195.00
Care of the deceased person before the funeral in appropriate facilities. The deceased person will be kept at the funeral director’s Faringdon branch premises. – £425.00
Providing a suitable coffin – this will be made from a foil wood effect. – £345.00
Viewing of the deceased person for family and friends, by appointment with the funeral director (where viewing is requested by the customer). – £10.00
At a date and time, you agree with the funeral director, taking the deceased person direct to the agreed cemetery or crematorium (normally within 20 miles of the funeral director’s premises) in a hearse or other appropriate vehicle. – £320.00
Unattended Funeral
This is a funeral where family and friends may choose to have a ceremony, event or service for the deceased person, but they do not attend the burial or cremation itself.
Burial (funeral director’s charges only) £995.00
Cremation (funeral director’s charges plus the cremation fee) ² £1,490.00
Fees You Must Pay
For an Attended or Unattended burial funeral, the burial fee ¹. – £210-£720.00
In this local area, the typical cost of the burial fee for local residents is. – £210.00
For a new grave, you will also need to pay for the plot; for an existing grave with a memorial in place, you may need to pay a removal/replacement fee. In addition, the cemetery may charge a number of other fees.
For an Attended cremation funeral, the cremation fee. – £910-£1070.00

Additional Funeral Director Products And Services
This funeral director may be able to supply a range of optional, additional products and services,
or to arrange (on your behalf) for a third party to supply them. Examples include:
Additional mileage (price per mile) – £1.30p
Additional transfers of the deceased person’s body (e.g. to their home, to a place of worship etc.)

Collection and delivery of ashes – £30.00

Funeral officiant (e.g. celebrant, minister of religion etc.) – Prices on request

The funeral director can give you a full list of what they can supply. They are likely to charge for these additional products and services, so you may choose to take care of some arrangements without their involvement, or you can use a different supplier.
Please discuss any specific religious, belief-based and/or cultural requirements that you have with the funeral director.
1) This fee (which is sometimes called the interment fee) is the charge made for digging and closing a new grave, or for reopening and closing an existing grave.
2) In England, Wales and Northern Ireland, you will usually need to pay doctors’ fees as well. This is the charge for one doctor to sign the Medical Certificates for Cremation.
The Jackson & Browning Direct Funeral Service
Our Direct Funeral Service is a non-attended service.
£995 + third party fees
We pay third party fee’s on your behalf to the crematorium, burial grounds, church’s, officiants.
Included:
- The transfer of the person who has sadly passed away into our care (in office hours only, a fee of £190 out of office hours)
- Looking after the person who has passed away safely and ensuring they are residing in the correct environment
- Making arrangements on your behalf for our Direct Cremation
- A coffin of our choice
- Providing a suitable vehicle and two members of staff to assist the person who has passed away from our funeral home directly to the crematorium
- This service is available Tuesday to Thursday at a date & time of our choosing, excluding bank holidays
- Cremated remains must be collected from the crematorium by our client
Optional Extra – £249
- Service in our funeral home chapel for up to 20 people. (10 seated + 10 standing)
- Open or closed casket
- The option of an Officiant taking the service
- Wake option at our funeral home
- Complimentary tea & coffee
Our Direct Service is competitively priced; we, therefore, regret we cannot offer credit facilities with this service. Payment must be made in full prior to the funeral taking place, including our charges and third-party fees.
The Jackson & Browning Bespoke Funeral Service
Our Bespoke Funeral Service offers a dignified service, with a wider range of options. It also has the added benefit of access to our Additional Services range.
£2,395 + third party fees
We pay third party fee’s on your behalf to crematorium, burial grounds, church’s, officiant’s.
Included:
- The transfer of the person who has sadly passed away into our care at our funeral home in office hours.
- Looking after the person who has passed away safely and ensuring they are residing in the correct environment
- Preparation of the person who has passed away this may include washing, dressing, haircare, make-up, nail care, shaving, all as requested
- Making arrangements on your behalf for our Bespoke Funeral Service
- A funeral director to assist you every step of the way
- We will provide a black or silver hearse to transport your loved one to an address of your choice and on to the church service, the crematorium or burial ground, our professional staff will assist every step of the way. Other forms of transport are available
- Use of our chapel of rest by appointment with music of your choice if required so you can pay your respect to your loved one, time spent is unlimited
- Online donation is memory of the person who passed away.
- We will place your order with our chosen independent florist, we will ensure they are delivered to our funeral home on time, fresh and of the highest standard
- Liaise with our independent printers to create and obtain your order of service and distribute on the day of the service
- Discuss and draft your obituary to make sure it meets you requirements, we will then place your order with the chosen paper within timescale
- Free bereavement support to you and your family

For your convenience and to make things as smooth as possible we take payment for the whole service to ensure all third parties are paid on time. Third party fee’s must be paid in full prior to the funeral. We also require a deposit of 50% of our professional fees prior to the funeral taking place. Balance of the funeral costs will be invoiced after the funeral has taken place. All invoices are payable immediately on receipt.

All our Funeral Directors are experienced and trained in supporting family who has lost a child, With the best care possible to your child or loved one.
In 2019, The Children’s Funeral Fund for England was created by Prime Minister Theresa May. To ensure no parent or career should pay a child or baby’s funeral. This can help to pay for some of the costs of a funeral for a child under 18 or a baby stillborn after the 24th week of pregnancy. The fund is available regardless of your income or savings. These fees help towards the cost of cremation and burial fees and also for the cost of a coffin. The claim will be made directly by us the funeral director. The burial or cremation must take place in England.

Here is some information on local Crematoriums and Natural Burial Grounds, If you would like more information or if there is another Crematorium or Cemetery please don’t hesitate to ask. There are many cemetery’s/Burial Grounds in Faringdon, Oxford, Swindon, and surrounding villages we have access to. There may be increased fees at some burial grounds for non-residents. some churchyards and parish burial grounds do have plots available for burials and interments of cremated remains, we will contact the Crematorium or Cemetery’s on your behalf to book the date and time of the funeral.
